Hugh Jackman takes brutal swipe at Ryan Reynolds for excluding him from Deadpool & Wolverine scene

Hugh Jackman took a playful swipe at Ryan Reynolds during a recent performance of his stage show, From New York, With Love, at Radio City Music Hall.

While reflecting on his return as Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine, Jackman admitted there was one part of the Marvel blockbuster that left him feeling just a little left out: a dance number he wasn’t invited to be part of.

Jackman began on stage, according to the Daily Mail, “Don’t tell Ryan…”

“I don’t need to be in every scene in the movie. But Ryan is a writer,” he continued.

“And when I see the script, I see that the scene that I’m not in is the opening sequence, which is a dance number to an NSYNC song by Ryan.”

“I’m like, ‘the one scene I’m not in has dance.’ Now, Ryan, he’s very talented, but dancing?”

Not one to let a good moment pass, Jackman decided to reclaim the scene during his live show by performing “the dance that got away”, a rendition of NSYNC’s Bye Bye Bye, with the help of trainer and former dancer Beth Lewis.

Despite the light-hearted jab, there’s no sign of any actual tension between the two longtime friends, who have openly praised each other throughout their time promoting the film.

Jackman reprised his iconic role as Wolverine seven years after Logan seemingly closed the chapter for good.

Deadpool & Wolverine have since exploded at the box office, delivering a chaotic, bloody and wildly entertaining ride that has left fans buzzing about what’s next.

Though Wolverine’s original timeline remains untouched (with Logan still canonically dead), the film introduces a new version of the character, pulled into Deadpool’s world… and possibly, into the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe.

That said, neither Jackman nor Reynolds appeared in Marvel’s recent Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement.

However, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige hinted that the teaser didn’t include everyone expected to appear. With Jackman joking that he plans to play Wolverine “until he’s 90,” there’s every chance we haven’t seen the last of him.
