Marvel reportedly wants original Wolverine and Spider-Man for Avengers

Hugh Jackman was once set to have a cameo scene as Wolverine alongside Tobey Maguire in Sam Raimi’s first Spider-Man movie.

Sadly, due to an issue with Jackman’s X-Men costume, that crossover never happened.

However, recent whispers have it that the two live-action Marvel icons are finally in talks to share the screen as their superhero counterparts.

Hugh Jackman and Tobey Maguire MCU reports

Credible reports of Jackman and Maguire being sought out to star together in Avengers: Secret Wars began a while back.

Insiders previously reported Jackman being interested in returning, as long as he could share the MCU screen alongside Maguire and Robert Downey Jr.

Now, reports have begun to circulate that Marvel Studios is seriously eager to get both superhero veterans to sign up for a big return, likely for Secret Wars.

With popular pages such as Pubity and Wealth sharing the news, it has taken less than 24 hours to spread the word among the Marvel fandom.

Will Hugh Jackman and Tobey Maguire be in Secret Wars?

It’s no secret that the multiverse is in full swing at Marvel Studios, and it’s equally fair to assume the bosses would love to see both Jackman and Maguire reprise their roles for the Disney-owned MCU.

The only issue would be their busy schedules and expensive contracts.

However, Disney seems to be going all out on both the upcoming Avengers instalments, assuming there will only be two (as multiple parts to Secret Wars have been rumoured).

Assuming the budget is higher than the sky, pay deals may not be an issue.

Another factor is Jackman and Maguire saying no to returning, which could happen for a variety of reasons, one being the quality of the script.

Will the end of the Multiverse Saga call for Jackman’s Wolverine and Maguire’s Spider-Man, or will they just be used as nostalgia bait to draw in more audience members?

Fans will just have to wait and find out for themselves.

If the two are cast, the chances of them being announced are slim to none.

So, buckle in, this could get interesting.
