James Bond movie producers reveal exactly what they are looking for in next leading 007 star

After Daniel Craig’s unforgettable run as 007 ended with No Time To Die in 2021, producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have been careful to set the stage for Bond’s next chapter.

Now, they’ve shared some clues about what they’re looking for in the actor who will take on the iconic role - and it’s got people talking.

Broccoli has confirmed that Bond 2.0 will probably be in his 30s.

As Wilson put it, “We’ve tried looking at younger people in the past. But trying to visualize it doesn’t work. Remember, Bond’s already a veteran. He’s had some experience.”

But it’s not just about age or looks - this next Bond has to be in it for the long haul. Broccoli explained, “Whoever it will be, the actor will have to star in at least a decade’s worth of films during their time as 007.”

That’s a major commitment. So, not only does the next Bond have to deliver on screen, but they’ve also got to be game for the massive responsibility that comes with the role.

While there’s been a lot of chatter about diversifying the role, Broccoli made it clear that the character’s “whiteness is not a given.”

On the other hand, there’s no wiggle room when it comes to gender - Bond will remain a man. Broccoli has shut down the idea of a female Bond, saying, “It’s a big decision… the actor will be a man.”

As for potential frontrunners, Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s name keeps coming up. The British actor, best known for roles in Kick-Ass and Bullet Train, reportedly impressed the producers during a screen test last year.

Even former Bond, Pierce Brosnan, has given him the thumbs-up, saying, “The man has the chops and the talent and the charisma to play Bond, very much so.”
