Bridget Jones star Leo Woodall throws his name into mix as next leading James Bond actor

Leo Woodall has thrown his name into the mix for the next James Bond, and he’s not shy about it.

The One Day and White Lotus star recently admitted he would love to step into 007’s shoes, joining the long list of actors vying for the iconic role.

The 28-year-old actor, known for his roles in One Day, Prime Target, and The White Lotus, as well as playing the new love interest of Renée Zellweger’s character in the latest Bridget Jones film, has expressed interest in the coveted role of James Bond.

In a recent conversation with Variety, Woodall was asked how he’d feel about stepping into 007’s shoes.

He laughingly responded, “Every British actor’s getting that! That call hasn’t come yet.”

However, when further asked whether he would be up for the role, he said: “Yeah, I’d do Bond.”

“I’d love to do something like that.”

“It doesn’t need to be saving the world, but I want to beat up some bad guys, you know?”

At 27, he fits the rumored casting brief that suggests producers are looking for someone in their 30s to take over from Daniel Craig.

Since Craig’s departure after No Time to Die (2021), speculation over Bond’s future has been constant, as the producers of the Bond franchise haven’t revealed who will take over the iconic role.

In November, franchise overseers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson said the next Bond films will evolve with the new lead.

“Every time we cast a new actor, the films change,” Wilson said.

“It’s the excitement of a new bond, a new direction.”

“Every one of these people who took on the role offered something new and different.”

Names like Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Henry Cavill, and James Norton have all been floated as potential candidates.

Woodall gained attention for his breakout role in The White Lotus Season 2, where he played the charming but shady Jack.

He’s since taken on the lead in Netflix’s adaptation of One Day, proving he has the range for both drama and action.
