Tom Holland breaks silence on viral James Bond casting speculation

007 fans are wondering if Tom Holland is about to swap his red Spidey suit for a tux, after multiple reports suggested he’s being eyed for the next James Bond.

Now, the British actor has set the record straight about playing the iconic spy in the next film, which will be helmed by the Dune’s Denis Villeneuve.

The Avengers Endgame star appeared on Gordon Ramsay’s YouTube series Scrambled, where the chef playfully floated the idea of Holland taking over as the next James Bond.

Ramsay then teased him with a simple question, “Can you imagine what’s going to happen to your life if you do?”

Holland smirked at the suggestion, replying, “There’s speculation at the minute. We’ll keep it to a minimum for now.”

He then added, “We’ll get there one day,” though he stopped short of confirming any serious talks.

Ramsay pushed further, asking if he’d jump at the chance of playing the iconic role.

Holland admitted, “I mean, every young British actor, it’s the pinnacle of working in our industry.”

“I already consider myself to be the luckiest kid alive, you know? I could never have dreamed to have the career that I’ve had.”

The role of James Bond has been up for grabs since Daniel Craig wrapped his run in 2021’s No Time to Die.

Since then, speculation has gone into overdrive, with numerous stars linked to the part.

In early 2024, The Sun claimed Kraven the Hunter star Aaron Taylor-Johnson was the frontrunner, saying Bond was “his job, should he wish to accept it.”

Oppenheimer star Cillian Murphy was also said to be in the mix, even receiving a vote of confidence from former Bond actor Pierce Brosnan.

The latest report says execs are mainly looking for a British actor under 30 to take on the role of the new Bond.

Holland is said to be at the top of their wishlist. Other top picks include Jacob Elordi from Euphoria and Saltburn, and Harris Dickinson from The Iron Claw and Babygirl.

Other names floated over the years for playing Bond include James Norton, Damson Idris, Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill, Regé-Jean Page and Richard Madden.
