Thousands of fans have been dying for another season of Mindhunter, they might just get their dream come true!
In 2020, Mindhunter Season 3 was put on indefinite hold by Netflix.
During an interview with French outlet JDD, executive producer and showrunner David Fincher was asked if there will ever be more seasons of the show.
“I’m very proud of the first two seasons.”
“But it is a particularly expensive show and, in the eyes of Netflix, we did not attract a large enough audience to justify such an investment,” Fincher told the outlet.
However, an Awards Daily interview from late last year with actor Holt McCallany, who starred in Mindhunter, gave fans hope that it could be returning sooner than we think.
The interviewer for Awards Daily asked the actor: “There is a huge subculture of Mindhunter fans… who have not given up on the idea that there could be a third season. We refuse to give up on it.”
McCallany responded: “I’ve heard that David’s thought about it.”
“I’m not saying it’s going to come back,” he added.
He continued: “But what I am saying is that if it comes back, I’m coming back with it.”
“You can take that to the bank.”
“But it’ll depend on what David wants to do,” he said.
“It’s been a few years now, so it’s probably unlikely, but just even that he would think about it is a hopeful sign.”
Mindhunter fans continue to plead for the streamer to green-light a third season.
“One of the best series I’ve ever seen,” one fan says.
“I just can’t believe they didn’t have enough audience to continue. It’s one of the best shows I’ve ever seen!” another wrote.
So come on Netflix, do your fans justice and give them a season 3!
