Netflix fans left ‘disappointed’ by ‘overhyped’ and ‘boring’ Squid Game 2

PublishedLast updated

There aren’t many people who haven’t heard of the international phenomenon that is Squid Game.

The dystopian series aired on Netflix in September 2021 and has just released its second season.

After waiting three years for this highly anticipated second season, fan expectations couldn’t be higher.

Just hours after its release on Netflix, some audience members quickly jumped to social media platforms such as X to share their disappointment.

Many shared the same thoughts; that it was “boring” and “predictable”.

Considering the first season had audiences on the edge of their seats, some expected to be as equally gripped.

One of the main focuses was the fact there weren’t many new games, which led fans to tell producers not to “come back for a new season”.

“Season 2 of Squid Game lowkey boring like [I don’t give a f***] about the storyline, just show me the games.”

“Squid Game S2: – Very slow and boring most of the time – Unlikable characters – Lots of useless moments – Not enough game moments – The plot barely moves at all Very disappointed.”

However, not all fans agreed with the mass hate for the new season, as others enjoyed it for what it was.

“Second seasons of huge shows aren’t usually as good as the first but Squid Game 2…man, that s*** did NOT disappoint.”

“I’m surprised seeing some people thought Season 2 of Squid Games was mid when I thought it was more amazing and darker than before.”

“I feel like society is divided into people who think the new season is boring because they just wanted to see the games and the violence, and people who see the amazing analysis of human behavioural psychology, and that itself is a commentary on people’s intelligence.”
