Tobey Maguire Spider-Man trilogy returning to theatres with 4K Extended Cut

ByAlex Duthie

It’s official, Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man is returning to theatres.

The original Sam Raimi-directed trilogy, including a 4K extended cut of Spider-Man 2 (aka Spider-Man 2.1) for the first time on the big screen, has set a September re-release.

The extended cut of the second Maguire-led instalment features both extended and additional scenes, never before seen in theatres.

Spider-Man Trilogy 2025 Re-Release Dates

Re-release screenings of the first Spider-Man releases on Friday, September 26, 2025.

Spider-Man 2.1 will then follow on Saturday, September 27, 2025.

Spider-Man 3 on Sunday, September 28, 2025.

It will then play in theatres again, in the same order, the following weekend: October 3 (Spider-Man), October 4 (Spider-Man 2.1), and October 5 (Spider-Man 3).

When Can I Buy Tickets?

Tickets will become available for purchase on July 25.

Fathom Entertainment, in collaboration with Sony Pictures, is behind the re-release.

As shared by Variety, Ray Nutt (CEO of Fathom Entertainment) said in a statement: “The success of ‘Spider-Man’ in 2002 helped launch the modern era of superhero films.”

“To this day, Tobey Maguire’s take on Spider-Man resonates across generations.”

“At Fathom Entertainment, we celebrate fandom, and I am delighted that ‘Spider-Man 2.1’ in 4K will make its theatrical debut, a true gift for longtime fans and a thrilling discovery for new ones.”

This comes after the trilogy was released last April for a limited theatrical event, which also included the re-release of Andrew Garfield’s two The Amazing Spider-Man movies.

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy was also re-released.

It’s currently unclear if Garfield and Holland’s movies are planned to be re-released again this soon.

If the Maguire trilogy does well (again), then it’s likely.
