Robert Pattinson hints at retirement from acting once he finishes his Batman movie trilogy

ByVinay Sharma

Robert Pattinson has hinted that he might retire from acting after completing The Batman trilogy.

In a recent conversation with The New York Times, the 37-year-old actor admitted he’s surprised to be still working in the industry.

Pattinson is currently gearing up for The Batman Part II, set to release in October 2026.

While the Matt Reeves-helmed Batman franchise is set to be a trilogy, Robert Pattinson has hinted he may not continue in the role after the final instalment.

He said, “I could genuinely be retiring by the end of them. Not in a million years did I think I’d still be doing this when I got my first job. I can’t believe this is still going.”

He noted how long the trilogy is taking to complete, joking, “The Batman movies are taking too long,” and hinted that the lengthy timeline could influence his decision to step away from acting.

Robert Pattinson began his acting career in 2004 with an uncredited role in Vanity Fair, but his breakthrough came when he starred as Edward Cullen in the Twilight series.

After leaving the franchise, the English actor pursued a diverse range of roles, including standout performances in the Safdie Brothers’ Good Time, Robert Eggers’ The Lighthouse, Christopher Nolan’s Tenet, and Hayao Miyazaki’s The Boy and the Heron.

No matter the project, Pattinson stresses the importance of staying focused on his craft.

He explained, “The main thing is constantly remembering what your job is. It’s a discipline to not use your energy on anything other than that.”

Since the release of The Batman in 2022, speculation has been rampant about the sequel’s main villain.

While The Penguin (Colin Farrell) and The Joker (Barry Keoghan) are confirmed to appear, fans suspect the primary antagonist will be someone – or multiple someones – new.

The prevailing theory points to the Court of Owls as the main villains of The Batman Part II.

The Court of Owls is a secret society made up of Gotham’s wealthiest elite, who use deadly assassins known as the Talons to carry out their sinister plans.

This theory gained traction after fans noticed an owl-themed Easter egg in HBO’s upcoming series The Penguin, with owl symbolism appearing in Gotham City’s courthouse, further fueling the rumours.
