Sophie Turner admits kissing co-star Kit Harington in new movie was ‘vile’

Sophie Turner has admitted that locking lips with Kit Harington on the set of their upcoming gothic horror film The Dreadful was far from romantic.

Turner and Harington famously played siblings Sansa Stark and Jon Snow across all eight seasons of HBO’s Game of Thrones.

While the HBO series wrapped in 2019, Turner recently confessed that their off-screen bond still feels very much like family.

Appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Turner revealed that she suggested Harington for the project, which she also produced and stars in.

But when the script landed, both actors quickly realised it would be an awkward reunion.

Turner recalled, “So, I sent the script to Kit, and he kind of sent me a message back going like, ‘Yeah, I’d love to, but this is going to be really f***ing weird, Soph.’”

“And I was like, ‘What is he talking about?’ Then I was reading [the script] and it’s like, ‘Kiss, kiss, sex, kiss, sex…’ And then I’m like, ‘Oh, shoot, that’s my brother.’”

Despite their hesitation, Turner said the story was too strong to pass up.

Turner compared her moment with Harington to a recent scene in her new movie Trust, where real cockroaches and rats were released into a small room with her, eventually crawling up her arms and legs.

In the end, she said kissing Harington was actually worse than dealing with the roaches.

She went on to add, “We put it out of our minds, and then we get on set and it’s the first kissing scene, and we are both retching. Like, really, it is vile. It was the worst.”

Set in the 15th century, The Dreadful follows Anne (Turner) and her mother-in-law, Morwen, as they live in isolation on the edge of society.

When a figure from their past resurfaces, his arrival sets off a chain of life-altering events.

The film also stars  Marcia Gay Harden, Laurence O’Fuarain and Jonathan Howard.
