Millie Bobby Brown reveals she nearly ‘quit acting’ after losing major role to Bella Ramsey

Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown recently revealed how she came close to leaving the limelight that is Hollywood when losing out on a major role.

Although Brown now leads one of the most successful streaming shows in recent years, as well as starring in various movies, she once thought her career had come to an end.

The role in question ended up going to Bella Ramsey.

During an interview on The Tonight Show, Brown opened up about her experience auditioning to play none other than Ramsey’s Game of Thrones character, Lyanna Mormont.

At the time, both Brown and Ramsey were relatively unheard of in the industry, as both were a lot younger than they are now.

When The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon asked if she was ready to “quit acting” upon discovering she had not gotten the part, Brown confirmed she considered it.

“I think I was just very disheartened by the rejection,” the Stranger Things star said.

She continued: “I tell everyone – ‘this industry is such full of rejection 24/7.”

“You get no’s – a lot of no’s – before you get a yes.”

“I was auditioning for commercials, for anything really,” she added.

“I then auditioned for Game of Thrones and I got a ‘no’ for that and then I was kinda like, ‘Oh, this is really difficult.'”

“I guess I really wanted that role.”

Despite not landing the part of Lyanna, Brown revealed that receiving a callback for a huge Netflix series gave her the spirit to keep on trying.

At the time the show she auditioned for was titled “Mantauk”, however, it went on to become what the world now knows as Stranger Things.

“So, one of my last kind of goes at this was this Netflix show called Montauk,” Brown said.

“I auditioned, and like two months later they got back to us and they were like, ‘Hey, we’d love to Skype with you’ and then I Skyped with them.”

“The rest is history, of course, we then named the show Stranger Things.”

The Enola Holmes star continued to admit that Stranger Things was “definitely the one that kind of gave me that hope of doing it all again.”

One fan wrote in response to Brown’s revelation: “Maybe people who auditioned Millie for the Game of Thrones are freaking out now.”

“Thank god she didn’t get the role for got and thank god she didn’t quit acting,” another said.

“If she was in Game of Thrones, I would have watched by now,” a third joked.
