Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk set to return for Spider-Man Brand New Day

ByVinay Sharma

Mark Ruffalo is officially confirmed to be joining the cast of Spider-Man: Brand New Day as the Hulk.

After years of keeping the Avengers at arm’s length, the next Spider-Man movie is finally set to bring the green giant back into the fold.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ruffalo is returning as Bruce Banner, aka The Hulk, in Brand New Day, which is the fourth solo outing for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker.

The 57-year-old Marvel star joins a packed returning cast that includes Michael Mando, who’s back as Mac Gargan, better known as the Scorpion, a character last seen briefly in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Also returning is Jon Bernthal, who reprises his fan-favourite role as Frank Castle, aka the Punisher.

While details on how Banner fits into Peter’s next chapter remain under wraps, it is the first time Ruffalo’s Hulk has shared the screen with Holland’s Spider-Man outside of ensemble Avengers titles.

With Bruce Banner in the mix, Brand New Day might go beyond Spider-Man’s usual street-level problems and dive into bigger, more universe-spanning conflicts.

There’s a good chance it could connect to the MCU’s growing multiverse storyline as well.

Directed by Shang-Chi‘s Destin Daniel Cretton, Brand New Day is based on a script by longtime Spider-Man writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.

Filming is now in progress in Glasgow, Scotland, with a release date set for July 31, 2026.

The official reveal of Spider-Man’s new suit shows off bold raised webbing and a larger chest emblem that nods to classic versions of the suit from past films.
