Sydney Sweeney, known for her breakout roles in Euphoria and The White Lotus, recently set the record straight about her financial independence.
The 27-year-old actress has been the subject of rumours suggesting her fiancé, 40-year-old Jonathan Davino, financially supports her.
Sweeney addressed these assumptions head-on in an interview with Glamour magazine, where she made it clear that she is fully responsible for her own finances.
“I’m a very successful, independent woman who’s worked really hard,” Sweeney declared.
She emphasized that she provides not only for herself but also for her family, saying, “I’ve accomplished and bought everything myself.”
The misconception, likely fueled by the 13-year age gap between her and Davino, led to unfair assumptions about their relationship dynamics, which Sweeney was quick to dismiss.
“You can be in a healthy relationship with someone and also be very successful without needing the man,” she explained.
Sweeney also opened up about how her upbringing shaped her financial mindset.
Coming from a family that “lost everything,” she admitted, “I am terrified of that.”
“That fear will always be instilled in me.”
The Anyone But You star described her relationship with Davino as a partnership, saying, “We’re teammates.”
“We’re in it together, and we want to see each other succeed.”
After her successful turns in Euphoria and Anyone But You, she is gearing up for several major releases.
One of her most anticipated films is Eden, a thriller directed by Ron Howard, which is set to debut in 2024. The film is based on a true story and features an all-star cast, including Vanessa Kirby, Ana de Armas, and Jude Law.
Another project in the pipeline is Echo Valley, a thriller for Apple TV+ where Sweeney stars alongside Julianne Moore and Domhnall Gleeson.
Sweeney is also attached to the highly anticipated remake of Barbarella, a sci-fi classic where she will take on the titular role of the space-travelling heroine.
