The Predator franchise is set to make a comeback on the big screen in 2025 with Dan Trachtenberg’s Predator: Badlands.
Alongside, 20th Century Studios’ president Steve Asbell has revealed that a third Alien vs. Predator movie might be in the works.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Asbell discussed the potential for a new AvP film, teasing that it will “probably” happen eventually.

However, he hinted that it wouldn’t be what fans might expect and wouldn’t just be rushed out as a standard sequel.
Asbell said, “After Prey became a success, Dan [Trachtenberg] came back and said he didn’t want to do Prey 2. And we’re like, ‘What do you want to do?’”
“And he rattled off a bunch of ideas that were really crazy but really cool.”
“We’ve actually done two of them.”
He also added, “Two are coming out next year.”
“One I can’t talk about yet, but the other one is the live-action Predator film with Elle Fanning that just wrapped in New Zealand.”
Steve Asbell also hinted that a new Alien/Predator crossover could happen under Disney.

He noted, “It wouldn’t be in the way you think.”
“Not just another Alien vs. Predator or something like the original movies.
“If we do this, it will come naturally from the two franchises we’re continuing, with characters that audiences love.”
He went on, “These characters may come together… possibly.”
“But we’re not at that stage yet. And we’re not going to rush it out.”
The upcoming Predator: Badlands is helmed by Dan Trachtenberg, who previously directed Prey (2022).

Badlands will be a standalone entry within the Predator universe.
Notably, it shifts from the prequel format of Prey and will be set in the future.
According to the official synopsis, Predator: Badlands is “a groundbreaking film in which one of the two main storylines delves into the intricate bond of two very different sisters, their familial ties are put to the ultimate test as they pursue divergent paths and missions.”
Elle Fanning has been cast in the film, potentially playing both sisters, despite some height inconsistencies in the casting criteria.
Predator: Badlands is set to hit theaters on November 7, 2025.
