Johnny Depp officially offered to return for Pirates of the Caribbean 6

PublishedLast updated

It’s official, Johnny Depp is in talks to return as the one and only Captain Jack Sparrow for Disney’s long-awaited Pirates of the Caribbean 6.

The film saga’s famous producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, revealed the news himself while talking with Entertainment Weekly.

Bruckheimer’s update confirms Depp is interested in returning, as well as Disney being equally (if not more) interested in getting back into business with each other.

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Bruckheimer revealed that he has indeed had conversations with Depp about returning to the Black Pearl for another adventure.

Since Depp’s controversy with his ex-wife, Amber Heard, Bruckheimer has often been adamant about still being interested in teaming back up with the legendary actor.

Now, the Pirates producer says: “If he likes the way the part’s written, I think he would do it.”

“It’s all about what’s on the page, as we all know.”

Despite the next movie being planned to reboot the franchise, as he confirmed with Entertainment Weekly in a previous interview, he still wants legacy characters to be in the mix.

“It’s a reboot, but if it was up to me, he would be in it,” he previously told the outlet.

“I love him. He’s a good friend. He’s an amazing artist, and he’s a unique look.”

“He created Captain Jack. That was not on the page; that was him doing a little Pepé Le Pew and Keith Richards. That was his interpretation of Jack Sparrow.”
