Percy Jackson and the Olympians fans may still be waiting for season 2, but it looks like Disney+ is already preparing to start work on the next chapter of its hit mythology series.
The studio has confirmed that filming has begun on season 3 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which will adapt Rick Riordan’s third novel, The Titan’s Curse.
The news was shared on the show’s official X account, alongside a behind-the-scenes photo of lead star Walker Scobell holding a clapperboard.
The caption reads, “A new era begins – Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 is now in production! Don’t miss Season 2 December 10 on Disney+.”
The update arrives five months after Disney+ renewed the beloved fantasy drama for the second season.
The upcoming third chapter will bring The Titan’s Curse to the screen for the first time.
In the story, 14-year-old demigod Percy embarks on a dangerous mission to save Annabeth Chase and the goddess Artemis, both held captive by the Titan Atlas.
The first two novels in Riordan’s series, The Lightning Thief and The Sea of Monsters, were previously made into films by 20th Century Fox before being reimagined for Disney+.
Filming on season 3 starting before season 2’s debut marks a faster turnaround for the series.
Production on the second season only began six months after season 1 had finished airing.
According to the official synopsis, the upcoming season 2 picks up with Percy’s “return to Camp Half-Blood one year later to find his world turned upside down.”
“His friendship with Annabeth is changing, he learns he has a cyclops for a brother, Grover has gone missing, and camp is under siege from the forces of Kronos.”
“Percy’s journey to set things right will take him off the map and into the deadly Sea of Monsters, where a secret fate awaits the son of Poseidon.”
Season 2 will have eight episodes and is set to premiere on Disney+ on December 10, 2025.
The main returning cast features Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase, Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood, Charlie Bushnell as Luke Castellan, Dior Goodjohn as Clarisse La Rue, and Daniel Diemer as Tyson.
