Antony Starr, best known as Homelander in The Boys, has finally addressed fans’ hopes of seeing him join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Green Goblin.

Currently busy filming the final season of The Boys, which is due out in 2026, Starr took time to meet fans at Toronto Comic-Con.

There, a fan asked him directly if he would ever consider stepping into Marvel’s world.

According to the X post, Starr replied, “Nah, I’m a little too old for that.”

However, when Medeiros pushed further and asked specifically about Green Goblin, Starr gave a different answer.

Starr responded “I COULD DO THAT! But Willem Dafoe did a great job so maybe not.”

Willem Dafoe famously played Norman Osborn, aka Green Goblin, in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, and returned to the role in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Dafoe’s chilling portrayal of Green Goblin set a high bar for future versions of the character, which Starr acknowledged with his comment.

This is not the first time Starr has been linked to big comic book roles outside of The Boys.

Back in 2024, fans speculated he could play Booster Gold in James Gunn’s new DC Universe after noticing that Starr followed Gunn on Instagram.

But Starr quickly shut down the rumours, saying there was nothing to it.

In an interview with ComicBook, Starr clarified, “Me and James just play golf.”

“I cannot wait to see what he does with the DC Universe.”

“I think he’s a phenomenal director, producer, talent.”

“He’s one of the biggest brands in the industry, so I’m excited to see what he cooks up.”
