Brad Pitt takes brutal swipe at his marriage to Friends star Jennifer Aniston in candid confession

“I think that my marriage had something to do with it."

Brad Pitt recently reflected on his marriage to Jennifer Aniston, describing their relationship as both “comfortable” and, at times, a “pretence.”

The two were married from July 2000 until their divorce in March 2005 and were often seen as Hollywood’s “golden couple.”

They met in 1994, started dating in 1998, and made their red carpet debut at the 1999 Emmy Awards.

Their star-studded Malibu wedding featured grand touches like 50,000 flowers and a fireworks display, reflecting their status as one of Hollywood’s most celebrated pairs.

Unfortunately, their marital bliss didn’t last. In 2005, Brad and Jennifer announced their divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.

In the weeks leading up to the announcement, rumours swirled in the media, suggesting that Brad had already found love with his Mr. & Mrs Smith co-star, Angelina Jolie.

The pair, who played a married couple in the steamy action-comedy, became the focus of intense speculation about an off-screen romance.

Following their high-profile split, Pitt admitted to having regrets about the end of his marriage to Aniston.

The Fight Club star revealed feeling unfulfilled during that time.

He admitted, “For a long time, I thought I did too much damage – drug damage.”

“I was a bit of a drifter.”

He went on, “A guy who felt he grew up in something of a vacuum and wanted to see things, wanted to be inspired. I followed that other thing. I spent years [expletive] off.

“But then I got burnt out and felt that I was wasting my opportunity.”

Although Brad didn’t openly say that these “wasted years” took place during his marriage to Aniston, a comment he made in 2011 seemed to support this idea.

In an interview with Parade, he shared that he spent a large part of the ‘90s “sitting on a couch, holding a joint, hiding out.”

Brad claimed, “I think that my marriage had something to do with it.”

“Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn’t.”

Despite their split in 2005, both actors have maintained a friendly relationship, often speaking fondly of each other in public.

During a 2021 interview on The Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM, she said, “Brad and I are buddies. We’re friends, and we speak.”

After divorcing Aniston, Pitt began a relationship with Jolie, with whom he had three biological children and adopted three more.

The couple finally married in a private ceremony in August 2014 after nearly a decade together.

Unfortunately, their marriage lasted less than two years before they split, sparking a lengthy and highly publicized divorce battle that continues to gain headlines even today.
