A new Pirates of the Caribbean movie may be on the way, and this time, Johnny Depp could be back as Captain Jack Sparrow, at least according to a new report.
Industry tipster The DisInsider claims that Walt Disney Studios is quietly preparing to start production on the next film at a Hollywood soundstage.
While there’s no official timeline, the insider suggests Depp will return for this instalment.

Depp’s return appeared to hinge on whether he and Disney could mend things after their widely publicized fallout following his defamation trial against Amber Heard.
While it might have been simpler for Disney to move on without him, the insider has received information suggesting that Depp will be returning to the role after all.
However, since no second source has confirmed the news.
It remains a rumour for now and must be taken with a grain of salt.
Speculation about the franchise’s future has been swirling for a while.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer previously confirmed that Disney is developing two separate Pirates projects - one potentially starring Margot Robbie and another connected to the original series.
Before Bruckheimer’s statements, other rumours suggested a possible reboot or a younger cast taking over, with The Bear star Ayo Edebiri reportedly in talks at one point.
If this latest claim is true, more official news about the next Pirates of the Caribbean film could be coming sooner than later.
Until then, fans will have to wait and see if Captain Jack is truly making his return.
