PublishedLast updated

Fans were moved to tears as Jenna Ortega recently shared details about her last interaction with the late Cameron Boyce.

The Wednesday star opened up about a poignant audition experience she had with Boyce shortly before his untimely passing in 2019.

In an interview with France’s Canal+ , while promoting Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Ortega recounted the memory alongside co-stars Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara.

The actress revealed that she and Boyce, who had known each other since she was 11 or 12, were called in to audition as love interests when she was around 15 or 16.

According to Ortega, the audition required them to kiss, but both actors felt uncomfortable with the situation.

Ortega explained, “Because he obviously felt weird and he was a bit older, he was like - we both just kinda looked at each other and we were like, ‘No, we can’t do this.'”

The Scream VI star went on to describe Boyce’s considerate actions, saying, “It was so sweet because I was uncomfortable and I was having a hard time… and then, we wished each other well.”

Cameron Boyce, known for his roles in Disney Channel’s Jessie and Descendants, tragically passed away at the age of 20 due to complications from epilepsy.

This heartfelt story has evoked strong reactions from fans, many of whom are still mourning Boyce’s passing.

One fan posted on X, “He really was such a gentleman- a very sad loss to the world.”

Another one weighed in on the uncomfortable situation, saying, “That’s a really sweet memory of Cameron.”

“It’s also disappointing that it was up to Jenna and Cameron, the kids in the situation to acknowledge that something was weird. Where were the adults?”

A third one chimed in, “He was so rare, him being gone hits every single day.”

Jenna Ortega’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is currently playing in theatres.
