James Gunn reassures DC fans David Corenswet will ‘blow people the f**k away’ as Superman

James Gunn’s upcoming Superman movie is gearing up for its release in July 2025.

The reboot is set to kickstart a new era of the DC Universe.

Gunn recently teased what fans can expect from the film, which is currently in the post-production phase.

At New York Comic Con (via Rotten Tomatoes), Gunn revealed to the crowd that the upcoming DCU starter is going to be “extraordinarily well”.

“The movie is going extraordinarily well. We’re deep in the process of editing,” Gunn said. 

Gunn also heaped praise on David Corenswet, who is stepping into the shoes of Superman following Henry Cavill’s exit.

“David Corenswet is going to blow people the fuck away. He is the movie star that everyone just dreams he could possibly be,” the DCU boss added.

“I don’t think anyone really understands the depth of this guy’s talent, dramatically, comedically, he’s the best physical action star I’ve probably ever worked with.”

“He’s an amazing actor, and Rachel Brosnahan, people are going to die for her as well.”

The upcoming Superman movie follows the titular superhero as he reconciles his heritage with his human upbringing.

Superman embodies truth, justice, and the American way, even in a world that sometimes views these values as old-fashioned.

The cast for Superman includes David Corenswet as Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders, Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, and Nicholas Hoult playing the iconic villain Lex Luthor.

Krypto the Superdog is also set to make its live-action debut in the film.

Gunn earlier announced the news X, “Krypto arrives on screens in Superman this summer. Krypto was inspired by our dog Ozu, who we adopted shortly after I started writing Superman.

“Ozu, who came from a hoarding situation in a backyard with 60 other dogs & never knew human beings, was problematic to say the least.”

James Gunn’s Superman is set to fly into theatres on July 11, 2025.
