Frank Grillo, who played Crossbones in the MCU, was almost fired by Marvel Studios several times due to leaking news and spoilers while he was part of the franchise.
He briefly appeared in the MCU as the ruthless S.H.I.E.L.D. strike team leader Brock Rumlow in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Crossbones met a brutal end in Captain America: Civil War after revealing a bomb vest strapped to his chest, he was twisted in a grotesque manner and hurled into the air by Scarlet Witch in an effort to reduce civilian casualties.

In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Grillo opened up about his upcoming DCU projects and explained that he’s hesitant to share details because he got into trouble for revealing too much during his days at Marvel Studios.
Grillo said, “You know, unfortunately, there’s nothing I can really say that wouldn’t get me in trouble. So I kind of have to step back and go, ‘I take the fifth.'”
“I am so bad at this. Like, Marvel almost fired me 36 f*cking times because I don’t know.”
“I never want to lie. And so, I do that a little too much. But I’ve been warned.”
Grillo further stated that if Kevin Feige were to reach out to him about reprising his role as Crossbones, he would definitely be interested in returning.

He shared, “I don’t know, at this point in my life, all the things that I thought were real and true, I’ve learned as a man who’s now matured, that if they ask me to do that, I would love to go back and do it.
Frank Grillo also expressed his excitement about joining James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DCU.
He added, “And I’m loving what I’m doing with DC. I love James Gunn and Peter Safran and they’ve given me an amazing opportunity.”
Frank Grillo is set to voice Rick Flag Sr. in the animated series Creature Commandos.
The adult animated show, written and executive-produced by James Gunn, will premiere on Max on December 5, 2024
Grillo will also return as the live-action version in Peacemaker Season 2 and then eventually in Gunn’s Superman in 2025.
