Blumhouse and Atomic Monster are officially teaming up with Evil Dead Rise director Lee Cronin to bring a new iteration of The Mummy to life.

As shared by The Hollywood Reporter, and later confirmed by Blumhouse, a brand-new The Mummy movie is heading to the big screen on April 17, 2026.

Plot and casting details are currently under wraps.

With this new take on the franchise, Cronin teased: “This will be unlike any Mummy movie you ever laid eyeballs on before.”

It’s safe to assume that this new take will lean in on the horror element, more so than the Brendan Fraser and Tom Cruise-led iterations of the Monsterverse classic.

“I’m digging deep into the earth to raise something very ancient and very frightening,” Cronin further teased.

It’s currently unclear if this new instalment will be connected to the Fraser or Cruise versions, however, fans are holding out hope for Rick O’Connell to return.

“Brendan Fraser or we riot,” one eager fan wrote.

This comes after recent takes on classic monster movies such as 2020’s The Invisible Man, with Wolf Man being another title currently set for 2025.

The Dark Universe may have failed after 2017’s The Mummy, however, it seems that there may still be hope to give these classics some justice.
