Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight confirms plans to ‘continue’ after upcoming Netflix movie

The Peaky Blinders universe isn’t closing its doors just yet.

Creator Steven Knight has revealed that the upcoming film, The Immortal Man: A Peaky Blinders Film, won’t be the end of the story.

Speaking on BBC Breakfast, Knight called the movie “a very fitting way to end this part of the Peaky story.”

When pressed on what he meant, he added, “It’s not over, let’s just put it like that. I’m not allowed to announce it … but I’m just saying that the world of Peaky will continue.”

While he didn’t confirm what’s next, Knight has previously teased potential spin-offs and follow-ups.

A new series could focus on the next generation of Shelbys, explore different time periods, or even shift the setting entirely.

Originally, Knight planned a seventh season of the hit BBC series, but those plans shifted to a movie instead.

The Immortal Man will continue the events of the Peaky Blinder series, taking place a few years after the show’s finale.

Cillian Murphy is set to return as Tommy Shelby alongside Stephen Graham, Sophie Rundle, Ned Dennehy, Packy Lee, and Ian Peck. New cast members include Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, Barry Keoghan, and Jay Lycurgo.

Knight also confirmed that filming wrapped in mid-December and that post-production is now underway.

He said, “We’re putting it together now. I would say this, wouldn’t I? But it’s fantastic. We’ve got the best, I think, the best British actors all in one place, including Stephen [Graham].”

Peaky Blinders first aired in 2013 and became one of the most successful British dramas of the past decade.

The series won four BAFTAs and ended in 2022 after six seasons.

Although originally a BBC production, it gained worldwide popularity after Netflix acquired international rights in 2014.
