Scarlett Johansson may be one of Hollywood’s most recognizable stars, but she has kept much of her personal life out of the public eye.
The 38-year-old actress, known globally for her role as Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, rarely speaks about her past relationships.
Many fans often forget that Johansson was first married at just 23 to fellow Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds.

Johansson and Reynolds, now 46, tied the knot in 2008, years before their Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) fame.
Their marriage ended quietly in 2010, with the pair releasing a joint statement that read, “After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we’ve decided to end our marriage.”
“We entered our relationship with love and it’s with love and kindness we leave it.”
Both actors have remained relatively tight-lipped about their marriage over the years.
However, Johansson opened up a few years after their split, telling Cosmopolitan that the “logistics” of marrying another actor were more challenging than expected.
In a recent interview on Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop podcast, Johansson reflected on that chapter of her life.
Johansson shared with Paltrow, “We weren’t married very long. We were married when I first met you on Iron Man. He’s a good guy.”
Paltrow couldn’t help but gush over the thought of Johansson and Reynolds together, calling them “goals.”
She added, “We love a good Ryan Reynolds in our house.”

Johansson went on to discuss her current marriage to Saturday Night Live star Colin Jost, 40, revealing that she’s finally in a relationship where she feels truly comfortable.
She explained, “I’ve never probably been ready for a relationship like the one that I have with Colin at different times in my life because I wasn’t comfortable setting my own boundaries, I didn’t know not only what I wanted but what I needed from somebody else.”
“Obviously it’s hard to be in a relationship anyway because you have to compromise all the time but I never realised like it’s really important for me, I need to be with a compassionate person.”
She continued, “That’s a fundamental characteristic that has to be there and I think understanding what those fundamental things are that you need in a partner are a must for longevity.”
Johansson emphasized how understanding her own needs and boundaries made a huge difference.
She added, “That’s why it worked with Colin because I was finally able to step back and actually respect myself enough to know what those things were and be okay with it.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Johansson and Paltrow addressed long-standing rumors of a feud during the filming of Iron Man 2 in 2010.
Johansson dismissed the speculation, saying she was “petrified” stepping into the MCU, but Paltrow warmly recalled how happy she was to have another woman on set.
