Fans of the Scream franchise have something to look forward to, as Scream 7 has been officially scheduled for a winter 2026 release in theatres.
The announcement came via Instagram, where star Neve Campbell and director Kevin Williamson shared a graphic of a knife piercing a calendar.
The post was captioned, “It’s gonna be a killer 2026.”
The latest instalment will mark Campbell’s return as Sidney Prescott, following her absence from Scream VI due to a pay dispute.
Courteney Cox also revealed that she was in talks to return as Gale Weathers.
Scream 7 is set to be helmed by Kevin Williamson following the exit of Christopher Landon.
Guy Busick, who wrote the scripts for 2022’s Scream V and Scream VI, is returning as the screenwriter.
Scream VI directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, also known as the Radio Silence duo, are serving as executive producers.
The film is being produced by James Vanderbilt (Ready or Not), William Sherak (Suspiria), and Paul Neinstein (Scream 2022) under Project X.
Scream 7 plot has been kept tightly under wraps. While the Scream franchise typically follows a group of characters being targeted by a new Ghostface killer, the specifics of Scream 7’s storyline have not been revealed.
Scream VI follows the survivors of the Ghostface killings from Scream V as they relocate to New York City in an attempt to leave their traumatic past behind.
The film focuses on sisters Sam and Tara Carpenter, along with their friends Chad and Mindy Meeks-Martin, as they try to start fresh. However, their new life in the city is disrupted when a new Ghostface killer emerges, targeting them once again.
Scream 7 is set to slash into theatres on February 27, 2026.
