A Netflix movie based on a Stephen King novel has been making waves due to its shockingly graphic scenes, with some viewers even feeling faint after watching.
Gerald’s Game, originally released in 2017, has gained renewed attention thanks to a disturbing clip that recently went viral on social media.
Directed by Mike Flanagan, the film is an adaptation of King’s 1992 novel. It follows Jessie and Gerald Burlingame, a couple who head to a remote lake house in Alabama for a romantic escape.

Their plans take a horrifying turn when Gerald dies of a heart attack during an intimate moment, leaving Jessie handcuffed to the bed with no one around to help.
As Jessie fights to survive, she faces both physical danger and psychological challenges.
The official synopsis of the movie reads: “A couple tries to spice up their marriage in a remote lake house.”
“After the husband dies unexpectedly, the wife is left handcuffed to their bed frame and must fight to survive and break free.”
The most talked-about moment occurs when Jessie, desperate to free herself, breaks a glass and cuts her wrist to slide her hand out of the cuffs.
This graphic scene has been so intense that it’s reportedly caused some viewers to feel sick or even faint.

Social media users have reacted strongly to the graphic scenes in the film.
One viewer posted, “Okay, I genuinely nearly just passed out. #GeraldsGame has been on pause for ten minutes. A film has NEVER affected me like that before.”
They also added, “Can’t believe it affected me like it did. I swear I’ve seen worse. But I genuinely felt faint. Had to run to the loo and everything.”
Another one added, “Good movie, even better book!”
“Loved it – seen it 3x lol. Can be uncomfortable in certain scenes but worth a watch,” a third one chimed in.
A different user posted, “Great movie! It was messed up lol [sic].”
Despite its unsettling content, Gerald’s Game has earned critical acclaim, holding a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Gerald’s Game is available to stream on Netflix.
