Matt Reeves’ highly anticipated The Batman sequel remains shrouded in mystery, with little concrete information available regarding its storyline and characters.
Fans of the 2022 hit film have been speculating about which new villains might be introduced, with the Court of Owls emerging as a popular fan theory.
In a recent interview with Showsha, Matt Reeves, who is also the executive producer of the upcoming HBO series The Penguin, was asked about the potential appearance of the Court of Owls in The Batman Part II.
However, Reeves remained tight-lipped, saying, “We can’t comment on the movie because we are doing the movie, and then you’d know what movie we’re doing, and we’re not going to say that yet.”

The Court of Owls, created by writer Scott Snyder and artist Greg Capullo, first appeared in Batman #6 (2012). This secret society is made up of Gotham City’s wealthiest and most powerful citizens.
Operating from the shadows since the city’s inception, the Court remains hidden from the public, only surfacing in rare urban legends.
Their sinister influence over Gotham makes them a perfect fit for Reeves’ darker, more grounded take on Batman’s universe.
Apart from Colin Farrell’s confirmed return as Oz Cobb aka The Penguin, no other villains have been officially announced for The Batman Part II.

However, rumours continue to swirl about the possible inclusion of characters such as the Court of Owls, Clayface, Hush, and Two-Face.
Robert Pattinson is set to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman, alongside Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon and Farrell as the Penguin.
It was recently revealed that the script, by director Matt Reeves and co-writer Mattson Tomlin, is complete.
Filming is expected to begin around April 2025 at Warner Bros Studios in Leavesden, England.
While specific plot details remain under wraps, Reeves has teased that the sequel will “dig into the epic story about deeper corruption” in Gotham City and explore “places that Batman couldn’t anticipate in the first one.”
The Batman Part II is currently scheduled to hit theatres on October 2, 2026.
