The Bluey movie has been confirmed after months of reports and whispers about it.
Disney and BBC Studios are teaming up with the children’s animated cartoon to bring a full-on theatrical feature to the big screen.
It will come to the big screen sometime in 2027.

News of the movie was shared on socials such as Instagram by the official Bluey account, along with ABC Kids, Ludo Studio, and BBC Studios.
“HUGE NEWS!”
“There’s going to be a Bluey movie!”
“The first-ever animated Bluey movie will land in cinemas in 2027,” they shared in a joint announcement.
Bluey creator Joe Brumm will serve as director and writer.
As per Deadline, Brumm expressed how he feels his creation “deserved a theatrical movie” and shared how he hopes it can be an experience for families, not just for children.
“I’ve always thought Bluey deserved a theatrical movie. I want this to be an experiential event for the whole family to enjoy together,” Brumm said.
“Since its debut on Disney Jr. and Disney+, Bluey has become a global phenomenon, uniting families everywhere with its heartfelt stories of play, imagination and connection,” Alan Bergman and Dana Walden, co-chairman of Disney Entertainment, said.
BBC Studios CEO Tom Fussell explained how due to Bluey being one of “the most popular IP in the world,” it seemed only right that a “feature-length film was the natural next step.”
“After some time spent away from the series, working on another project, an old idea resurfaced and before I knew it, I’d written a Bluey feature script that I really love,” Brumm said.
“Fast forward through a tonne of contracting and we’re about to embark on making an animated Bluey movie,” he added.
“I always said I wouldn’t keep making the show if I thought I couldn’t make any new season as good as the last.”
He continued: “This would have been the case for me with a potential season four, so I’ve decided to take a break from my involvement in the TV series.”
“In the event I can’t wrap my head around doing more seasons myself, The Sign will mark my TV finale for Bluey and I wrote it as such.”
