Man of Steel star Henry Cavill may have found his next mega project, as he is set to star in the upcoming Voltron live-action movie.
According to Deadline, the live-action adaptation of the iconic animated series has added Cavill to the cast in a major role.
Although details surrounding Cavill’s character in the film remain unknown, he will be joined by Daniel Quinn-Toye, who was recently tapped to play the main role in the film.
The Voltron franchise originates from Toei Animation’s mecha anime series, Beast King GoLion, which aired 52 episodes between 1981 and 1982.
Plot details for the movie are kept under lock and key but the original animated series follows five young space pilots who each control a Robot Lion that can combine to form the super robot, Voltron.
Its popularity led to the creation of three animated TV spin-offs, two video games, and a toy line.
Amazon MGM Studios is developing the upcoming film, with Rawson Marshall Thurber at the helm.
Thurber gained recognition for directing comedies like Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story and We’re the Millers, as well as action films like Skyscraper and Netflix’s Red Notice, both starring Dwayne Johnson.
Henry Cavill‘s live-action Voltron movie does not have a release date yet.
