After years of teasing, it looks like Malcolm in the Middle is finally getting a revival.
Today, Variety exclusively shared the news that Disney has ordered the long-awaited revival of its popular streaming service, Disney+.
Original cast members are expected to return.
Frankie Muniz, who famously starred as the titular character Malcolm, is set to return.
Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek are also set to reprise their roles as parents Hal and Lois.
As per Variety, four episodes have currently been ordered by Disney Branded Television.
However, a release date or even window has yet to be determined.
The logline of the upcoming revival is as follows: “Malcolm (Muniz) and his daughter are drawn into the family’s chaos when Hal (Cranston) and Lois (Kaczmarek) demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party.”
It’s also safe to assume additional familiar faces will be returning.
“Malcolm in the Middle is a landmark sitcom that captured the essence of family life with humor, heart and reliability,” said Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television.
“Its hilarious and heartfelt portrayal of a lovably chaotic family resonated with audiences of all ages, and we’re so excited to welcome the original cast back to bring that magic to life again.”
“With Linwood Boomer and the creative team at the helm, these new episodes will have all the laughs, pranks, and mayhem fans loved — along with a few surprises that remind us why this show is so timeless.”
