Jonathan Majors says he would ‘love’ to return as Kang in future Marvel Cinematic Universe project

Jonathan Majors says he is ready to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe despite parting ways with the studio after his conviction last year.

The actor, who starred as Kang the Conqueror in 2023’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, told USA Today he would “of course” say yes if Marvel came calling.

He said, “Yeah, of course, I say yes.”

“Disney, Marvel Studios, I love them,” he added.

“Tom Hiddleston; loved working with that guy. Loved working with Paul Rudd.”

“Loved working with Gugu Mbatha-Raw. I love the industry so much, and now I’m in the place where I can feel the love from them and actually express my love for them.”

Jonathan Majors is out promoting his latest film, Magazine Dreams, but questions about his Marvel past continue to follow him.

Following his conviction on two misdemeanour charges of reckless assault and harassment, Marvel parted ways with the actor and shifted focus away from Kang the Conqueror.

The studio reworked its future Avengers projects, renaming Avengers: The Kang Dynasty to Avengers: Doomsday, with a new focus on Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr.

Majors’ departure marked a major change for the MCU, as Kang was positioned as the franchise’s next big villain. However, the studio has since reshaped its multiverse plans.

In a separate chat with Entertainment Weekly, Majors confirmed he would also be open to returning as Damian “Diamond Dame” Anderson in the Creed franchise.

“Yes. Yes, to both,” Majors said when asked about returning to Creed and Marvel.

“The version of me that would come back to those places, though, would be different.”

He added, “I don’t think anything different would happen between ‘action’ and ‘cut.’”

“That’s why I got the job. But there would be something different about it if I were to come back, and I would like that. But as I said, it’s not in my control.”

Jonathan Majors is getting backing from several big names in Hollywood as he works to get his acting career back on track after recent legal troubles.

One of the most vocal supporters is his Creed III co-star Michael B. Jordan, who praised Majors’ strength and said he’s eager to team up again.

Jordan shared with the GQ magazine, “He’s doing great, just got engaged. I’m proud of his resilience and his strength through it all, and [his] handling [of] it.”

“I’m glad he’s good. That’s my boy.”

Others like Matthew McConaughey and Whoopi Goldberg have also spoken up.

McConaughey, who starred alongside Majors in White Boy Rick, said, “I’ve always known him as someone committed to growing - as a person, a man, and an actor. I believe in him.”
