Rita Ora breaks down on stage while singing song she co-wrote with late singer Liam Payne

Rita Ora was brought to tears while performing the song “For You” in Japan, a track that she co-wrote with the late former One Direction star Liam Payne. 

The performance came shortly after news of Payne’s tragic death was confirmed.

Towards the end of the live performance, Rita Ora emotionally said, “I can’t even sing this right now,” before asking, “Can you sing this for me?”

A photo of Ora and Payne then appeared on the screen as she left the stage.

After the release of “For You” in 2018, Ora and Payne performed the song live together numerous times, with the single reaching the Top 10 across Europe.

The music world is in mourning after police confirmed that the 31-year-old singer passed away following a tragic fall from a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on October 16. 

According to reports from authorities, police were called to the scene after receiving information that a man at the hotel was acting aggressively and possibly under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

An autopsy has since revealed that Payne died from internal and external haemorrhaging as a result of the fall. 

The investigation is ongoing, with further toxicology tests being conducted to determine if substances played a role in the incident.

Payne’s death has sent shockwaves through the music industry and among his global fan base. 

One Direction has shared a joint statement on social media, expressing their respect and condolences for their former band member, Liam Payne.

The statement reads, “We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say.”

“But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly,” 

“The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever.”

“For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us.”

“We will miss him terribly.”

“We love you Liam.”

The investigation into Liam’s death is ongoing.
